Sara Jelley has been producing and hosting Songwriter Circles on Maui since 2019, and in 2023 has expanded this series to include Songwriter-in-the-Round Nashville-style concerts at Maui’s ProArts Playhouse on top of the half-day workshops, which now include song shares and collaborative feedback as well as facilitated co-write sessions. The Grief Anthem:

I didn’t get a lot of time with my mom. And I don’t think I knew just how little it was until recently. I had a great friend in college who passed away in our senior year. I never thought I wouldn’t get more time to talk to him and become who we were becoming together. This is for people we’ve lost - whether still living or not. This is the anthem to that feeling.

    After beginning the road to recovery from codependency, Sara Jelley’s original soulful indie folk-pop songs began to express the theme of self-acceptance as a means to heal and grow. Her songs are the equivalent of sneaking vegetables into comfort food- a mental tonic inside incredible emotional beauty.

    Some have said about her music, “Wait a minute... there’s therapy in here!” Sara writes often about codependency and fully feeling her feelings, as well as her journeys with anxiety and complex trauma. She believes that emotional transparency and self-acceptance can transform a life and unite all of us.

    Sara is a heart-opening, vulnerable and soulful vocalist, and takes her audiences on an emotional mini vacation. She uses her musical theater experience, her pure voice and nourishing charm to entice the listener into her honest, intentionally written songs.

     

    Sara has performed in front of 20,000+ people, and at such venues as the Maui Arts and Cultural Center, the Historic Iao Theater, ProArts Playhouse, and private events. She is a mind/body/spirit focused vocal coach living on Maui with her partner Spencer and loves to connect with people at a soul level.
